Rusty Cichlid

Rusty Cichlids (Iodotropheus sprengerae) are peaceful and colorful Mbuna from Lake Malawi, named for their soft orange-to-rust body coloration with hints of violet. They are one of the more community-friendly African cichlids and do well in rocky aquascapes with similarly tempered tankmates.

• pH: 7.6–8.6 (Adapted to Tallahassee tap water)

• Hardness: 10–20 dGH

• Temperament: Peaceful for a Mbuna; mildly territorial

• Recommended Group Size: 1 male with 2–3 females, or in species-only groups

• Minimum Tank Size: 40 gallons

• Max Size: 4 inches

• Diet: Fluval Bug Bites Cichlid Formula, spirulina flakes, Hikari Cichlid Excel, and occasional blanched vegetables (zucchini, spinach)
