Common Plecos (Hypostomus plecostomus or similar species) are hardy, algae-eating catfish known for their armored bodies and sucker mouths. While sold small, they grow very large and need spacious tanks with strong filtration. Best suited for large tanks or ponds with plenty of driftwood and hiding spots.

• Temperament: Peaceful, but territorial with other bottom dwellers as they mature

• Recommended Group Size: Singly unless in a very large tank

• Minimum Tank Size: 75 gallons

• Max Size: 18–24 inches

• Diet: Hikari Algae Wafers, Fluval Bug Bites Bottom Feeder Formula, blanched vegetables (zucchini, cucumber, spinach), and driftwood for grazing
