Bushynose Plecos are hardy, peaceful algae-eaters named for the fleshy bristles that grow on the faces of mature males. Unlike larger pleco species, they stay a manageable size and are ideal for most community tanks. They thrive in aquariums with driftwood, caves, and consistent water quality.

  • pH: 6.5–7.8 — Adapted to Tallahassee tap water

  • Hardness: 6–15 dGH

  • Temperament: Peaceful; males may be mildly territorial with other males

  • Recommended Group Size: Singly or in male-female pairs

  • Max Size: 4–5 inches
